Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO)
Founded in 2007 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra is a leading cultural institution representing Qatar internationally. Comprising 78 musicians from 28 countries, QPO is known for its innovative programming that blends Western symphonic traditions with Arab musical heritage. With over 500 performances worldwide, the orchestra has appeared at major venues such as La Scala, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall, symbolising Qatar’s commitment to cultural excellence and accessibility.
Giacomo Sagripanti, Conductor
Giacomo Sagripanti, Music Director of the Tbilisi State Opera, is one of the most prominent conductors of his generation and was named Best Young Conductor at the 2016 International Opera Awards. He has conducted at many of the world’s leading opera houses, including the Opéra de Paris, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, La Scala, and the Metropolitan Opera. Alongside opera, he maintains a strong international symphonic career.
Maria Agresta, Soprano
Italian soprano Maria Agresta launched her international career in 2007 and gained major recognition in 2011 with I vespri siciliani in Turin. She has since appeared at the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, and the Opéra de Paris, performing leading roles in works by Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, and Bellini. She is the recipient of the Franco Abbiati Prize and the Luigi Illica Prize.
Giorgio Berrugi, Tenor
Renowned Italian tenor Giorgio Berrugi, praised by Plácido Domingo, is celebrated for his warm tone and expressive artistry. He has performed at major venues such as La Scala, the Royal Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera, collaborating with leading conductors of our time. Formerly a principal clarinettist, he began his singing career in 2007 and quickly established himself as a leading operatic tenor.
