Imagine if you could retrace the journeys of those who lived in rhythm with Abu Dhabi’s tides – if you could greet the pearling boats returning to shore, walk through a bustling market filled with the cries of fish sellers, smell the scent of their catch on the barbeque, and hear veteran pearl divers share their tales in the Majlis...
Now, everyone is invited to step into the heritage of our coast at Abu Dhabi’s first annual Maritime Heritage Festival.
In a historic village recreated on the Corniche, you can immerse yourself in the story of local life with the sea and invite you to carry it forward. Meet the guardians of our maritime heritage, explore a relationship with the sea that is constantly evolving, and help to protect the future of our coasts.
The Festival brings together the contemporary and traditional. Visitors of all ages can enjoy crafts, design markets, souqs, storytelling, conservation experiences, performances such as the Ayala Bahri, demonstrations of skills from weaving to net casting, and food ranging from traditional local dishes to contemporary cuisine. Here, you can immerse all your senses in culture that thrives with the sea.
