Movement Live in Abu Dhabi

International and local stories of migration collide in a multimedia live music concert.

Movement LIVE combines the energy of a concert with the intimacy of storytelling, complete with rich visuals and immersive sound design, in a podcast come to life.
The stories and songs explore ideas of a world in motion, defining identity, and what it takes to call a place home, hitting listeners at the level of the hips, the heart, and the head.
The performance is led by Ethiopian-American musician and curator Meklit and features Abu Dhabi-raised Somali rapper, Freek; Al Ain-based Syrian singer-songwriter, Ghaliaa; and Dubai-based Filipino multi-instrumentalist Cromwell Ojeda.

Movement LIVE is co-created by audio producer Ian Coss and directed by acclaimed Indian-American theater director Sophiyaa Nayar.

Movement LIVE is co-commissioned by The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.
It was co-commissioned by Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington (Seattle) and debuted May 7, 2022.
They are also co-commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance, and Cultural Arts Center at Montgomery College (Takoma Park/Silver Spring, MD).

See below the guidelines for attending events at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi.

● Entry to the NYUAD Campus is through either the West or East Parking or the Welcome Center.
● As per current Department of Culture and Tourism guidelines, in order to attend a performance and enter campus patrons are requested to present their Al Hosn Green Pass for entry. To maintain a Green Pass the tests are every 14 days. For UAE citizens and residents, who are fully vaccinated and boosted (if eligible), can maintain a green pass by receiving a PCR every 14 days. Or have an official exemption from vaccination or booster a receive a PCR test every 7 days
● Entry for events should be based on Al Hosn Green pass in full. Vaccinated children below age 16 have an automatic green pass. Unvaccinated children are required to have a negative PCR to obtain a green pass (based on Al Hosn timings).
NYUAD will follow the Al Hosn green pass timings in this case. 16+ guests follow the Al Hosn green pass in full.

Exceptions to this are as follows:-
○ For the un-vaccinated (ages 13+), present a negative PCR test result not more than 48 hours old with a valid Al Hosn Green Pass.  ○ Visitors to the UAE who are fully vaccinated (booster not required) are permitted to enter with a 14-day PCR. Visitors who are unvaccinated will be permitted to enter with a 48-hour PCR
○ Entry for events should be based on Al Hosn Green pass in full. Vaccinated children below age 16 have an automatic green pass. Unvaccinated children are required to have a negative PCR to obtain a green pass (based on Al Hosn timings).
NYUAD will follow the Al Hosn green pass timings in this case. 16+ guests follow the Al Hosn green pass in full
● Patrons will be required to present a valid ticket to an event at The Arts Center upon entry to the campus, either through parking or through the welcome center.
● While indoors masks must be worn at all times (except when actively eating or drinking at a table).
● Acceptable Masks
○ Disposable masks (surgical or medical procedure masks)
○ KN95 masks
○ KF94 mask
○ N95 masks
○ Note: Cloth masks, if not accompanied by one of the above, are not acceptable.
