Emirati Theatre: Samra Written and Directed by Marei Al Halyan

The title of the theatrical show "Samra" is derived from the singing usually performed by a musical group that relies on the lute, violin and rhythms in the Gulf region, where it is called a ‘’Jalsa’’ or ‘’Samra’’.

The performance deals with the life of a group and the relationship of its members under an exceptional circumstance, where the group is invited by an institution that organizes a global forum, to perform a concert in front of the participating delegations.

An emergency prevents the band from performing, which makes its members feel frustrated.

In addition to the fact that the group’s goal is to gain from these singing sessions, but they contemplate the art of Tarab and use it as a way of self-expression.

Seating is available on the day of the event on a first come, first served basis.
