Ahmed bint Sulaiman is a play adapted by Naji Al-Hai, largely influenced by the realism and charm of The Sand Child (Tefl Al Rimal), a novel by Moroccan Francophone writer Tahar Ben Jelloun.
Al-Hai interpreted this work from a popular perspective and rewrote the play in the Emirati dialect with a focus on poetic language. He raises bold issues and controversial topics, as if to break taboos - albeit in a professional, eloquent and critical manner. Through this performance, Al-Hai generates further questions challenging the viewer, while making a bold comment about the status quo.
