Open Mike and Poetry Slam at Abu Dhabi Book Festival- FREE

Poets of all ages, languages, and experience levels are invited to come read their work. Message Farah Chamma or Paul D for sign-up for open mike and/or slam. Information on Slam: This will be the UAE's 2nd ever poetry slam. A slam is a competition in which 5 judges from the crowd are chosen. They will give a score from 0.0 to 10.0. The highest and lowest score will be dropped. There will be 3 rounds in this competition. The first two will be cumulative. The 3rd round will consist of the top 3 finalists with the highest cumulative score from the first 2 rounds. This final round is a "clean slate" round meaning the previous scores from the first 2 rounds don't count. Poems have to be under 3:00 mins with a 10 second grace period given. After that, 0.5 is taken off for every ten seconds over 3:10.
