The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, in celebration of Egypt as the Guest of Honour, welcomes for the first time the “AUC Alumni Folklore Group”
The group will showcase a variety of dances highlighting different regions of Egypt, choreographed by the group’s founder; Sara Selim.
In addition, as a tribute to the pioneer and founder of Egyptian folklore dance, the incomparable Mahmoud Reda, the group will perform one dance from his original choreography in celebration of his legacy.
The troupe aims to preserve, revive and promote Egyptian folklore dance, one of the most important Egyptian performing arts and an authentic part of Egyptian heritage and identity.
The group first started with different generations of the American University in Cairo AUC graduates and later grew to include non-AUC-graduate dancers as well, all coming together to “Revive the Art” due to the remarkable success of their performances.
Today, the group’s growing popularity captivated audiences from different age groups where it holds several annual events attended by thousands alongside their expanding online fanbase.
