Naseer Shamma and Bait Al Oud Orchestra: The 10th Anniversary of Bait Al Oud - Abu Dhabi

Naseer Shamma will give a talk preceding the concert related to the details of the programming.

On the opening of the Cultural Foundation Theatre, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi also celebrates the 10th anniversary of Bait Al Oud, with a live concert by its talented graduates and distinguished music instructors Bassam Abdelsatar, Sherine Tohami, Dr. Ahmad Fathalla, Faisal Al Saari and Ali Duraidi. The school’s artistic director, oud legend Naseer Shamma, will join the performance.

Continuing Bait Al Oud’s tradition of celebrating the history of Arabic music, the first part of this instrumental concert will bring together elements from Emirati traditional music adapted for contemporary life. It will also present the wide range of instruments taught at Bait al Oud including the oud, violin, qanun and cello, along with vocal performances.

In the second part of the programme, the musicians will unite to play classical Arabic compositions. This will include the world premiere of the Bait Al Oud Abu Dhabi Takht, the first professional classical Arabic orchestra created by Bait Al Oud Abu Dhabi, destined to play both regionally and internationally to preserve the splendour of Arabic classical music.
