After the success of their previous performances, the Youth Orchestra and Choir return to the stage with a program that explores the influence of jazz on classical music. Highlights of the evening will be iconic pieces by American composers George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, including selections from the famous musical West Side Story, alongside works by Emirati composer Ihab Darwish.
Under the direction of Aldo Dotto and Helen Kerr, the talented students of the Youth Orchestra and Choir will take the audience on a musical journey that highlights jazz's profound global impact, connecting different musical realms with energy and creativity.
The Youth Orchestra and Choir is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the International Music Institute and features some of the most talented young musicians in Abu Dhabi. These students are selected through an audition process and rehearse weekly to prepare for performances.
