Kuwaiti maritime and desert traditions meet the improvisational spirit of jazz in a cross-continent presentation of new music.

Boom.Diwan premieres fresh compositions that draw from the Khaleej’s rhythmic heritage while opening space for contemporary jazz dialogue, with material connected to their forthcoming album, recorded during the week of the concert.

Joining the ensemble are distinguished collaborators shaping the night’s sound from multiple angles. South African pianist and Blue Note artist Nduduzo Makhathini returns to the Boom.Diwan world after his appearance on their debut EP Minarets.

Bassist Liany Mateo, featured on the acclaimed Live in the Khaleej!, brings depth and drive, alongside drummer Elé Howell, most recently heard with Boom.Diwan at Lincoln Center for globalFEST.

Together, these artists build a shared language that honours tradition while exploring new directions for jazz in the Khaleej, with a performance grounded in exchange, listening, and bold ensemble interplay.

Boom.Diwan is widely recognised for bringing Khaleeji Jazz into the wider jazz conversation.

Rooted in Kuwait’s maritime and desert traditions, the group takes its name from the Boom, a historic Kuwaiti ship once used for pearl diving and merchant trade, and the Diwan, the traditional gathering place where seafaring musicians shared stories and songs.

These symbols reflect Boom.Diwan’s ethos of exploration, collaboration, and musical connection. Book your tickets now and be part of this unique meeting of heritage and improvisation.
