The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave

Experience a full rave distilled into one relentless hour of movement.

An electrifying non-stop performance distilling the intensity of a three-day rave into an hour-long spectacle of pure endurance.

From Aotearoa (New Zealand), Oli Mathiesen with Lucy Lynch and Sharvon Mortimer present the award-winning The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave, an endurance-based dance work set to the booming Detroit techno album Nocturbulous Behaviour by Suburban Knight.

Exploring the movement vocabulary used in techno through the atmosphere and culture of a three-day rave condensed into an hour. Witness the relentless movement of three bodies, seamless without pause, and detailed down to every beat. Indulge in the pain, sweat, and cathartic mess; a display of pure endurance to achieve a goal. The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave is a spectacle of the human body as a victim to music,  passion, and our endless desire to achieve more: To win and win again.

After the performance, you’ll be invited to dance on stage in The Black Box to guest DJs at our very own techno-fueled Raving Ovation powered by Analog Room, included in your ticket price. Featured DJs include Moe on Thursday, Cyrill Reaidy on Friday, and Bazzzuk on Saturday.

It’s indicative of a realised creative vision. Whether or not you love a nightclub, whether or not it’s your world being lifted from and riffed on, you can’t help but marvel at it." - Theatreview

“Overall, The Butterfly Who Flew Into The Rave is an extraordinary dance work; a marvellous simulation of an intensely vigorous, volatile and transcendent rave.  I am left feeling violently jealous not being able to join in under the infectious and lingering techno pulse.” - Theatreview

Analog Room DJs
Moe
A globetrotter at heart (having lived in Dubai, New Orleans, Kuala Lumpur, Stockholm, and Berlin), Moe has traveled the world pursuing the magical feeling dance floors can exude; a search that proved to him that regardless of where you are, genres don't matter. What matters is the feeling the music gives, the soul you put into it, and the space as a participant in the collective experience; as a dancer, DJ, or organiser. This heavily informed his tastes that are explored through music as well as the projects he organizes and curates: as a resident of The Breakfast Show at Berlin’s online radio Refuge Worldwide, co-host of 'Endless Groove' (non-profit Loft inspired community party in Stockholm & Berlin), initiator of 'Black Is...' (gender-inclusive platform supporting BIPOC voices in Berlin & Amsterdam), founder of ‘Wild Combination’ (Berlin multi-collective showcase benefitting essential causes), and the VIBRATIO)))NS mix series.

Cyrill Reaidy
Cyrill Reaidy is a DJ and selector based between Lebanon and the UAE. His sets pull from dub, hip-hop, house, techno, and jungle, shaped by over a decade of digging and playing across the region. His selections carry the weight of that history, genre to genre, crowd to crowd.

Bazzzuk
Dubai-based DJ Bazzzuk is an Analog Room resident and a co-founder of the Dancewerk party series. She curates her sets from diverse multi-genre selections, whether it’s fast-paced tunes with a lot of percussion and wicked grooves, or bassy but sensual sound dug from far-flung places.
